The Toland’s invite you behind the scenes as they carve out a crazy, adventurous, hands-on self reliant journey deep in British Columbia’s remote & unforgiving Chilcotin.
Trading convenience & city life for timber wolves & grizzly bears. Arön, a Jack-of-all-trades turned Mountain Man, rocking the Off-Grid lifestyle so hard it landed him on History Channels Mountain Men (S-12). Turning Jennifer into a witty domestic gourmet chef, highly tolerant, adaptable, with built-in coping mechanisms to deal with her extreme spouse as they renovate & operate a once abandoned fishing resort at Eliguk Lake.
For the Season Finale, Episode 21, we figured we’d do something a little different—and probably slightly questionable. We pulled together a list of completely random questions and asked them to each other… seeing them for the first time in real time. No prep, no strategy, just whatever comes out. We hope you appreciate the real, and the raw that is us.
Somewhere between the laughs and the side comments, it actually turned into a pretty honest look at how much off-grid living has changed us. From dealing with unpredictable winter weather (and way too much snow) to the day-to-day reality of running a life and business in a remote wilderness setting, you start to realize pretty quickly that this lifestyle doesn’t just change what you do—it changes how you think.
There’s a mix of humor, a bit of blunt honesty, and those moments where you catch yourself admitting something you probably wouldn’t have said if you had time to think about it first. That’s kind of the point of this one. It’s less polished, more real, and a good snapshot of what this life actually looks like behind the scenes.
And before we wrap the season, we want to say thank you—to everyone who’s been listening, subscribing, and leaving comments. We read them, we appreciate them, and they genuinely keep this whole thing going.
We’ll be back with Season 2 in Fall 2026.
